Ironvale Tactics
Ironvale Tactics is the kind of turn-based strategy that makes you sit still and think. You command a small squad across hex maps, and terrain matters more than raw stats — a unit on high ground with a river at its back can hold a line that looks hopeless on paper. There's no rushing here; the good runs come from patience.
The phone interface is surprisingly clean. Long-press shows movement and threat ranges, and the confirm step means you rarely fumble a turn by accident. Campaign missions unlock new unit types slowly, so you have time to actually learn each one before the next arrives.
My one complaint is the late-game difficulty spikes, where the AI suddenly gets a numbers advantage. But even then, losing usually teaches you something. This is a thinking-person's game and it never insults you.
