Five mistakes that ruin your first tower defence map
Most people lose their first tower defence maps for the same handful of reasons, and none of them are about reflexes. The genre is about planning, and planning is a skill you can actually practice.
The biggest error is spreading towers evenly across the map. It feels safe, but it means no single point does enough damage to matter. Concentrate your firepower at a chokepoint where enemies bunch up and slow down. One strong kill-zone beats ten weak ones.
Second mistake: ignoring range towers early. Slows and debuffs look boring next to a big cannon, but they multiply the value of everything else you own. A slowed enemy sits inside your damage zone twice as long.
Third, people upgrade too late. Selling and rebuilding wastes money; upgrading an existing tower almost always gives more damage per coin. Learn each tower's upgrade curve and commit early.
Finally, stop watching the money pile up. Idle gold is wasted gold. If a wave is about to end and you're sitting on a full wallet, you've under-invested. Spend it, place it, and adjust next round.
