Building a party that survives the hard fights

October 18, 2026 · Marek Dvořák

Mobile RPGs love to hand you a dozen characters and let you sort out who's worth using. The trap is chasing the flashiest damage dealer and neglecting the boring but essential roles.

A survivable party is usually a tank, a healer or support, and two damage sources — one single-target and one that hits groups. In Hollowmark Legends this exact spread carried me through fights the auto-battler kept losing.

Turn order matters as much as raw power. Put buffs and slows early, then burst damage while the debuffs are active, then clean up. Wasting a big attack on a turn where the enemy is protected is how good parties still lose.

Don't over-invest in one hero either. Games love to force you into fights where your best character is sidelined or split into two teams. Spread your upgrades wide enough that you're never relying on a single body to win.
